Have you paid your taxes lately?  If you said "yes" then you are in good company.  Millions of Americans not only struggle with the duty of following a convoluted tax code, but they sweat out the approaching tax deadline.  We live in fear of the IRS, bringing in experts to ensure we comply with federal law and do it in a way that won't come back to haunt us.

But we're not seeing the same concern from our leaders.  In fact, it seems all too common that national leaders are not only tax scofflaws, but even when their tax evasion is exposed, there are few consequences.  They certainly appear to cheat, yet still get plum jobs and perks of high office. 

The highly corrosive effect of this situation to our society is absolutely clear.  We wonder how they get away with it, and why.  If the rest of us did anything remotely resembling their behavior, we would expect to have our accounts frozen, and assets seized.  What kind of stress on a person's personal integrity comes with hiding something that clearly defies the law of the land?  What kinds of unlawful acts might be done in the interest of preventing exposure? 

Even the knowledge of a public official's wrong doing presents an opportunity for extortion and blackmail.  It opens the door to corruption from organized crime or even our enemies in the world.  Corruption is not just a threat to the politicians themselves, but is a threat to our entire society and way of life.

This site is dedicated to a simple proposition.  If you serve the public in a position of high responsibility, you deserve to submit to an IRS audit annually.  If you hold a cabinet position, or serve any federally appointed position, feel free to get in line at the IRS.  Consider it "table stakes" for establishing fiduciary credibility.  We can't afford tax "mistakes" from Congressman and Senators, nor from federal attorneys, prosecutors, or administrators.
